The World's Greatest Manta Show
Hanifaru Bay is simply the most spectacular manta ray experience on Earth. This small, sheltered bay in Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve creates unique conditions that concentrate plankton, attracting mass feeding aggregations of manta rays.
During peak season (June-November), especially around new moons with strong tides, over 100 mantas can gather in this small bay. They feed using a spectacular technique called "cyclone feeding" - swimming in tight circles with mouths open, creating a living tornado of mantas.
Scuba diving is prohibited at Hanifaru Bay to protect the mantas. When feeding, mantas swim near the surface with mouths open and could collide with bubbles from scuba divers. Snorkeling allows you to observe this incredible behavior without disturbing the animals.
Up to 200 individuals during exceptional events. Chain feeding and cyclone feeding behavior.
Guaranteed in SeasonOccasionally join the mantas during plankton blooms.
